Below is information for those of you unfamiliar with traveling to Wellington, and also details about the conference.
Arriving in Wellington
Wellington Airport is located close to Wellington’s CBD, and is a 10-20 minutes taxi-ride to the downtown area, costing anywhere from $30-40ish. There are also cheaper shuttle minivans. A bus also runs from the airport to downtown every 15 minutes. It will take around 20 minutes to the downtown. http://www.metlink.org.nz/airport-buses/
Venue for the conference: Rutherford House, Pipitea Campus, Victoria University of Wellington.
Rutherford House is right downtown next door to the main railway station and bus terminus. The main entrance is on Bunny Street.
Parking: there is metered parking on the streets nearby Rutherford House for short term parking. On the weekends no fee is required, but a time restriction applies.
A parking building nearby for day-parking is: Wilson Parking, 7 Stout Street (fee applies).
Disability Access: All conference rooms are disability accessible. There is disability parking on Bunny Street.
Wifi: Delegates will have access to free wifi through the guest login. You will need to sign in every hour, but there is no limit to how many times you can sign in.
Information for your paper presentation
Papers will be 15 minutes long. There will be time for questions for all of the paper presenters at the end of each panel.
There are powerpoint facilities if you wish to bring a slideshow. Please bring your powerpoint slideshow on a USB stick and transfer it onto the computer desktop before your panel starts. Internet will be available on the computers in the rooms. We will not have overhead projectors. People in the PK panels please email your presentations to Susanna (firstname.lastname@example.org) by this Friday the 8th. We will have them uploaded for you on the computers.
Registration will open before the Friday keynote at 5.15pm and during the reception after the Friday keynote, and at 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday, and during the breaks. The registration desk will be located on the ground floor of Rutherford House.
At the conference on the 15th to 17th of August
The conference begins at 6pm Friday the 15th, with Professor Cris Shore’s keynote. On Saturday and Sunday the morning panels start at 9am, and panels go throughout the day in two or three streams.
We will provide morning and afternoon teas and lunches, as well as wine and nibbles after the keynotes.
The conference concludes on Sunday at 4.30pm.
